Bradley Earl Lohnes

Bradley Earl Lohnes, 71, of Carlinville, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at SSM St. Joseph in Saint Charles, MO.

Brad was born on Nov. 17, 1953, in Pekin. His parents were Margaret Zank (Robert Zank) and Ernest Lohnes.

He attended Pekin Community High School and graduated in 1971. He continued his education at Illinois State University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in 1975, and he graduated from the University of Illinois in 1979 with a Master of Education.

He met Kristine Madsen, at ISU, and they married on July 26, 1975, in Chicago.

Brad was a teacher for 30 years, having taught English, Speech, Latin, and Roman history. He taught at schools in Danville, Dallas City, and Wilmette, all in Illinois. He was best known in Carlinville as the Guidance Counselor at Carlinville High School from 1983-2001. Brad retired from education in 2010.

He was a history buff and enjoyed traveling, fishing, reading, the Cubs, playing euchre and his two dogs Joey and Kallie.

Brad is survived by his wife, Kristine Lohnes of Carlinville; children, Heather (Mark) Lohnes-Kanllakan of Carlinville, Geoff (Victoria) Lohnes of Merritt Island, FL, Brock Lohnes of Carlinville; grandchildren, Jackson Bradley, Gabriel Alexander, Quincy Rose, and Charlie Kristine; brother Kirk (Tania) Lohnes of Bosque Farms, New Mexico, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Visitation will be held at Pleasant Hill Christian Church, located at 19433 West Frontage Road, Raymond, on Thursday March 6, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Visitation will also be held at Pleasant Hill Christian Church, on Friday March 7, from 10 to 11 a.m. with funeral services at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dave Zigenbein officiating.

The family prefers memorials in lieu of flowers. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Christian Church, Macoupin Center for the Developmentally Disabled, or the Macoupin Animal Shelter.
