MORTON ~ Kathy Lynn Flaherty, 60, of  Morton, passed away at 6:43 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2013 at OSF Richard L. Owens  Hospice Home.  She was formerly of Pekin.

Born July 19, 1953 in Shelbyville to Robert Reed, she was raised by Mary and Willard Sale.  They preceded her in death.  She married David Eugene “Ike” Flaherty on September 4, 1976 in Bartonville.  He died August 22, 2013 in Peoria.  She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Cheyenne Hope Burwell; and two sisters, Diana Reed and Nancy Huntley. Surviving are three daughters, Charissa Davis of Morton, Laura (Marvin) Irby of Lacon, and Rhonda Flaherty of Kingston Mines; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; four brothers, David (Kim) Reed of Gillett, Wisconsin, Randy Reed and Jack Robert Reed, both of Pekin, and Alan Reed of Springdale, Arkansas; and three sisters, Becky (Don) May of Springdale, Arkansas, Beckie (Bill) Lercher and Lesslie (John) Couch, both of Pekin. A homemaker, Kathy had worked at the Hicks Gas Station in downtown Pekin, Car Cosmetics in Pekin, and a bartender/waitress at the Pekin Moose Family Center #916. She was a member of the Pekin Women of the Moose Chapter #673, where she had served as an officer and chaplain. Kathy enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, fishing, bowling, and playing computer games. A celebration of life gathering will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the Pekin Boat Club. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
