Frankie Jo (Shallenberger) Freeman
March 16, 1953 - March 22, 2022

SOUTH PEKIN ~ Frankie Jo Freeman, 69, of South Pekin, passed away at 3:05 p.m. at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

Born March 16, 1953 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Vernie and Dorris (Akridge) Shallenberger, she married Robert Freeman September 18, 1970 in Arkansas. He survives.

Also surviving are two children, Bobbi (Patrick) Ertl of Morton and Anthony Freeman of South Pekin; five grandchildren, Lauren (Jack Yoder) Ertl of Lincoln, Sydney Freeman of Columbia, California, Emily Ertl of Morton, Brock Freeman and Dayton Freeman, both of South Pekin; two sisters, Ramona Howard of Pekin and Regina Martin of Pekin and one brother, Johnny R. (Debbie) Shallenberger of Creve Coeur and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Gary Shallenberger and one sister, Melody Evetta. Frankie was a radiology transcriptionist lead at OSF Saint Francis for 13 years, retiring in 2016. She previously worked at Pekin hospital for 25 years.

She loved spending time with her kids and grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling and loved going to Texas and Mexico. Frankie and her husband loved to go camping at Evening Star Campground in Havana and Texas Trails in Texas. She also enjoyed crocheting and painting.

Her visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes and Crematory in Pekin. A celebration of Frankie’s life will be held at a later date. Cremation will follow the visitation.
