Gary Dean Bush

Gary Dean Bush, 67, of Pekin, passed away at 5:35 p.m. Saturday, December 26, 2020 at UnityPoint Health - Methodist in Peoria.
Born January 10, 1953 in Pekin to Wilfred and Erma (Bambill) Bush, he married Trisha Zimmerman on December 20, 2008 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are four children, Bryan Bush, Isaac and Taylor Whitehall, and Jeremiah Bush, all of Pekin; two grandchildren, Zeandra and Kylie Bush; three siblings, Gene (Lana) Bush of Linton, Indiana, Kay (Gary) Walker of Elizabethtown, and Karen (Alan) Lane of Peoria; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter.
Gary worked as a galvanizer for 40-plus years at Keystone Steel & Wire Co. in Bartonville before retiring in 2018.
An avid Chicago Cubs fan and avid bowler, Gary was a member of numerous bowling leagues in the area, where he had bowled numerous 300 games. He also enjoyed fishing and playing golf.
Gary's greatest accomplishment was being 27 years sober and attending Pekin Serenity while helping others find their path in life.
He attended Pekin First Church of the Nazarene.
His private funeral service will be Monday, January 4, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Brian Eatock will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. Guidelines regarding social distancing and wearing of masks will be required. The family ask that everyone wear Cubs apparel or their favorite sports team in Gary’s honor. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
