PEKIN ~ James F. "Jim" Schmidt, 61, of Pekin, passed away at 10:22 a.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born September 22, 1953 in Pekin to Stanford Raymond and Betty Jean (Wells) Schmidt, he married Paula Henninger on February 17, 1973 in Pekin. 

Surviving are two daughters, Tera (Doug) Deal of Pekin and Tonya (Jason) Hogue of Severna Park, MD; six grandchildren, Cameron Rohde, Allyson Rohde, Ashleigh Rohde, Savannah Hogue, Aislynne Hogue and Gabriella Hogue; two step-grandchildren, Derek Deal and Madison Deal and one sister, Sue Ann (Ric) Munge of Pekin.  He is also survived by his love of five years, Ann Mullen of Pekin and her children, Darcie (Rich) Curto of Pekin, Kelli (Luke) Keene of Peoria and Ross Mullen of Pekin.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jim had attended and played golf for Eureka College.  He was retired from Caterpillar, Inc. with 30 years of service.

Jim was an avid golfer and pool player.  A sports enthusiast in general, he was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears.  Jim loved spending time with his grandchildren and playing "Munchkins" with the Hogue girls.  Jim's true happiness was bonding with his best friend and grandson through their shared love of baseball and fantasy football. 

He was a member of Pekin Moose Family Center 916.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  Pastor Mark Utech will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  Private burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
