SMITHFIELD ~ Larry Gene Miller, 69, of Smithfield, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Autumn Accolade in Green Valley.

He was born July 20, 1952 in Pekin to Muriel E. and Murdell L. (Snodgrass) Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are one son, Jed Miller of Michigan and one sister, Karen (Rob) Mull of Pekin. Larry was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the United States Army.

He had worked at Caterpillar, Inc. for 30-plus years. He was a member of the UAW Local 974 in East Peoria.

Larry was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed fishing and hunting ducks, geese and deer. He was in his “happy place” at his farm in Smithfield.

His graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Pastor Charlie Dean will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
