Paula K. (Gardner) Farrar

1953 - Febrary 1, 2018

At the age of 64, Paula passed away at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, peacefully, Thursday, February 15, 2018 with her loving and devoted husband by her side, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born and raised in Pekin, IL and a Joliet resident from 1974 until making Channahon her home in 1994. She was a graduate of the College of St. Francis with a Bachelor's degree in Education. Paula loved children. She was the Assistant Director at Grace United Methodist Church Childcare for over 30 years. There wasn't a day that went by that she didn't love what she did every moment.

Paula believed in always telling her grandchildren that everyone has their own talent and she made sure they felt special for being them. She always had coupons to share, was the best bargain shopper, and loved to get a good deal. She always had the best baby advice and really knew how to take care of babies. She helped her daughters-in-law out immensely. Paula would always be there when you needed her. She was always willing to listen. She always made all the grandkids games and events, as it brought her great joy to be involved in their lives. She was the proudest Gramma. Paula would always check on all her kids and grandkids. She would wonder how their day went or wondered if they needed anything. If the weather was bad she would be calling to see if they made it home safely. She also loved her chocolate.

Preceded by her son, Jeff Farrar; her parents, Robert and Lola (nee Garmin) Gardner; and one sister, Pam Lohnes.

Survived by her husband of 44 years, Wally Farrar of Channahon; two sons, Jason (Missy)Farrar of Channahon, and Justin (Samantha) Farrar of Joliet; daughter-in-law, Crissie Farrar of Minooka; six grandchildren, Chloe, Carlee, Payton, Caylie, Richie and Spencer Farrar; one sister, Bonnie Pollack of Pekin. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
