Mr. Sims, 60, of Philadelphia, died Friday, September 13, 2013, at his residence.

He was a native of Pekin, Illinois, and had been a resident of the Longino community in Neshoba County since 1991.  He worked in the IT Dept. for Magnolia Beverage Company in Meridian.  He worked part-time for the Meridian Police Dept. as a patrolman and formerly for Homeland Security in Meridian.  He was a member of Blue Knights Motorcycle Club in Meridian and was a member of Meridian Shooting Club.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1971 until 1973. Mr. Sims was Church of God by faith.

Survivors include his wife, Pam Sims of Philadelphia; sons, Charles (Leigh Johnson) Sims of Livingston, AL and Spencer Sims of Abilene, TX; father, Edgar Sims of Florida; sister, Joy (Daniel) Haddix of Grafton, WV; and brothers, Gordon Sims of Pekin, IL, Raymond (Patricia) Sims of Joliet, IL, Clayton (Lucia) Sims of Syracuse, NY, and Ronald (Donna) Sims of Syracuse, NY.

Mr. Sims was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Nicholas; brother, Daniel Sims; and sister-in-law, Earlene Sims. 

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were members of the Meridian Police Department.
