Shirley Mae England, 65, of Pekin passed away at 11 pm Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born July 6, 1952 in Peoria, the daughter of Frank and Lily Perry Gottman. She married Gary England in Pekin on June 9, 1973.
Shirley is survived by her husband of forty-four years; her mother, Lily Gottman; two daughters, Christine (Reed) Wallbom and Tonya (Jeremie) Davis; one son, Daniel (Anita) England; ten grandchildren; two brothers, Gene (Nancy) Gottman and Larry (Christine)Gottman; one sister, Bonnie Shirley.
She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Gottman; one sister, Angelia Gottman; and one nephew, Gordon Shirley.
Shirley worked at Kyle's Home Health Care in-house and resident care until her retirement in February of 2017. She also worked at Remmert Funeral Home as a Funeral Director Assistant for many years.
She had a compassionate heart for disabled people and also loved working as an aide at the Apostolic Home for the Handicapped in Morton, IL for sixteen years.
Shirley was a dedicated pastor's wife at Richland Baptist Church in East Peoria until her husband retired recently. She served in the nursery, as a Sunday School Teacher and a VBS Worker. She was a very devoted follower of Jesus Christ.
Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Richland Baptist Church. Visitation will be 12:00-1:30pm. Rev Gary England, Rev Jeremie Davis and Dr. Joe Gardner will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorials may be made to Richland Baptist Church.
